This unit focuses on the "Big Idea" that organisms are living things that have physical characteristics that help them grow and survive in their environment. We will be focusing on the following concepts:
1) Organisms include plants and animals and are complex living things that need air, water, light, food and space to survive.
2) Parts of plants and animals have special characteristics and functions that help them survive.
3) Plant parts have special functions to help the plant carry out its life functions.
4) Diverse habitats provide the needs of life for a variety of organisms.
5) Humans can positively or negatively affect a habitat.
